TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

IN NEGROS OCCIDENTAL

Lantawan View

Lantawan View in Silay, Negros Occidental still never fails to give me awe towards the wonders of nature. If you want to detoxify from the busy, hurried life or want to spend quality time with your loved one, the glorious spectacles of nature in this area of Negros is a must for your next destination.

In Hiligaynon, we call a place “lantawan” if that place offers a view. The root word is “lantaw” which means look or watch. A lantawan is an expansion of that term which signifies a platform where you can experience a spectacle or just a plain sight of something. It also means viewing deck.  Read More:  https://www.bryanvillarosa.com/lantawan-silay/

Lourdes Falls

Lourdes falls was introduced to me by a Filipino Chinese friend who lives in Bayawan City. Approximately 100 kms(62 mi) south of Dumaguete, the city of Bayawan is a first class component city. I have lived in Negros for 28 years and this is the farthest I’ve visited so far on the southern area. The city streets were incredibly clean, several banks I’ve seen, the city’s long stroll of beach and boulevard is very inviting for unwind and sunset watching.

Bayawan is largely an agricultural city and considered the “Agricultural Capital of Negros Oriental”.Evident along terrains of the city are considerable wide rice fields and farmlands.  Read More:  https://enroutenegros.wordpress.com/2015/11/08/lourdes-falls-bayawan/

Mag-aso Falls

Mag-Aso falls is located in Barangay Oringao, in the city of Kabankalan, in Negros Occidental. The waterfalls’ name, Mag-Aso, originated from the hiligaynon word, aso’. Which actually means smoke. Wondering why smoke? It is because the twin falls, with the height of eight meters, create smoke after it falls.  It’s powdery blue waters is one of the major reasons why a lot of people have started to take notice of it.

And because the resort that has access to the falls is owned by the government, its prices are sure to make your pockets happy. The entrance fee to see this wonderful waterfalls is only 50 Php per person. And that price can even be lowered if you’re a student or a senior citizen. If you want a comfortable place to settle and stay in while you’re in the resort, its cottage prices vary from prices of 100 PHP to 1000 PHP. You can choose which one you’d prefer. Of course, you prefer to spend the night, it is best to book ahead before your actual trip.

There is a man made pool inside and its water comes from the falls itself. The pool would be a great place for children to swim and enjoy because it is quite shallow compared to the main waterfalls which might be too deep for their age.   Read More:   http://www.travelingmorion.com/2017/04/negros-occidental-mag-aso-falls-of-kabankalan-city.html
