Silaguin Bay, Cove, Beach – Enjoy It for What It Is

Our destination for that day was Silanguin Cove, the farthest of the newly “rediscovered” beaches in San Antonio, Zambales. While it bears many similarities with its neighbors, Silanguin is definitely the odd man out. While Nagsasa, Talisayin, and Anawangin are covered with volcanic ash, Silanguin is strewn with regular sand. It is not white-white. It’s not even beige. It is gray at best. But don’t judge the beach by its color. It has the most stunning backdrop. Reddish hills frame the cove, a stark contrast to their virid feet. A short visit in Silanguin Cove showed me the differences among the coves in San Antonio Town. Being the farthest, it takes one and a half hours to get there passing Anawangin, Talisayin, and Nagsasa Coves. Its shoreline is stretched from north to east for about a little more than a kilometer, perfect for a morning walk. Agoho Trees are also typical in the area giving shade to beach campers pitching their tents. There are a few nipa huts in the area for rent, the Puerto Silanguin being the favorite.

There were few visitors that day compared to packed Anawangin. This cove was completely secluded far from busy city life. I had a quick chat with one of the campers and I found out that they made their way to Silanguin through the mountains of Redondo Peninsula. Mt. Cinco Picos traversing Silanguin was a tough hike. I’m attracted to Silanguin cove and I always visit this place to tune my mind and body from the hectic weekdays work. If the weather is good, I always find time to drive to Subic early in the morning and take a boat from Subic to this place, every weekend. One reason why I do this is that me and the other guests of Silanguin are attracted to the positive vibes and energies we get the next days after every visit. I’m thinking maybe its just an ordinary place just like the other places, we go to relax and physically detach ourselves to the weekdays work and pressures that made us physically and emotionally better the next days but it made me to wonder that maybe there are more reasons than that, which I will try my best to discover and intellectualized in this blog.
