Albay Sogod BeachPhoto from: philippinesbeachesandresorts.blogspot.com

On the eastern slope of the famous Mayon volcano in Albay lies the small town of Bacacay with 143 km of irregular coastline of mostly fine, black, volcanic sand beaches. Most of these almost unspoiled, black sand beaches are to be found in Barangay Sogod, which is less than 5 km from the town proper. It is the most popular beach in Bacacay, with towering coconut palms and lush vegetation providing cool shades. There are also smaller white sand beaches in the Cagraray Island nearby.

Fronting Roca Baluarte and along the highway is the volcanic, jet-black sand Sogod Beach, home to a number of Bacacay’s beach resorts. One such resort is the sprawling DOT-accredited, Class “A” Viento de Mar (Spanish for “sea breeze”) Beach Resort, set in well-manicured grounds.

The resort is divided into 2, one fronting the beach and the other located inland.  The one facing the beach has a house, good for 15 people, with 6 beds, a toilet and bath, kitchen and a hall.  There are also a 50-pax hall and 28 day huts for picnickers; 5 big (35-pax) and 23 small (20-pax).

The interior part of the resort, along the highway, has two 2-4-pax rooms with bath, two 4-6-pax airconditioned cabanas with common bath and two 5-8 pax small and three 10-15-pax big cabanas with toilet and bath.  All cabanas have “anahaw” roofing, attic balconies, refrigerator and cooking facilities. Read More: http://firingyourimagination.blogspot.com/2012/06/viento-de-mar-beach-resort-bagacay.html#.WxsbpCAh1aQ

SOGOD BEACHES

Tiwi is famous compared to other towns in Albay because of the geothermal plant. From Tiwi proper, Sogod is just 10-minute ride. There cottages that you could rent but since we are a big group, we rented for a rest house.

The beach has a fine sand but it is black. Avoid comparing it to other beaches that has white sand. There are lifeguards in the area because the waves are big. According to the locals there, it is already part of the Pacific Ocean.  Read More:  http://tincantravel.blogspot.com/2013/04/albay-sogod-beach-in-tiwi.html
