Palawan and Batangas used to celebrate their own versions of Anihan Festival on separate dates.  Later, the Anihan Festival in Palawan has been renamed as Palay Festival.

The Anihan (Harvest) Festival is celebrated every October 25-31 of each year in Narra, Palawan.  It is a celebration of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest that the people have received during the year, and a prayer that the new year’s harvest will be just as plentiful.

The Anihan festival also commemorates the feast of Saint Jerome, the town’s Patron Saint.

Activities during the celebration will include the parade of creatively designed floats, with muses of competing tribes, and the Search for Miss Amihan and the night of coronation.  There will also be an agro-industrial fair, food festival, garden show, showcasing an array of ornamental plants, native delicacies, and flourishing agriculture in the municipality.

Anihan Festival which is now known as the Palay Festival is one of the most famous festivals in Narra, where the products of the municipality are being showcased.

Palay Festival takes place in the municipality of  Narra which is found in the southern part of Palawan. Narra is dubbed as the “Rice Granary of Palawan” and the Palay Festival is the people of Narra’s way of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest.

Palay Festival is conducted around the last week of October where the “sights and sounds” of Narra are being presented to the public.  Read More:  https://www.travel-palawan.com/cultural-heritage/festivals-in-palawan/
