The Palawan Butterfly Garden and Tribal Village aims to attract and educate tourists of the beautiful butterflies that are natural to Puerto Princesa and at the same time introduce  indigenous members of the Palawan tribe.

It promotes the beauty of the world of insects and the cultural background of the indigenous people of Palawan.

Aside from butterflies, you can see some beetles, geckos and other insects in the Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village. It also serves as home to rescued animals. If you’re going to do the Puerto Princesa City tour, make sure to visit the butterfly garden and witness first-hand tribal village people at the Palawan Butterfly Garden and Tribal Village.  Read More:  http://wonderpinas.com/palawan-butterfly-garden/

Aside from the usual butterfly sanctuary, the garden also presents many species of lizards, insects, crocodiles, and the like.  Aside from the garden, the place also has a tribal village where visitors are allowed to have a glimpse of the behavior and way of living of some of the local tribesmen. A post by the entrance area states as follows:

“Palaw’an is one of the many indigenous people of Palawan that have been living in the province for thousand of years. A few traits and trades have been preserved since younger generations are now adopting to modernization. the Tribal Village is to preserve hose remaining traits and trades and by its Cultural shows.

Visitors will get a rare chance to interact with these native people that still holds pure Palaw’an bloodline. In the Philippines, tourists are surrounded by butterflies in this garden of exotic Philippine flowering plants. Occasionally, one can witness the emergence of a young butterfly and other unusual insects such as the praying mantis, stick and leaf insects, giant scorpions, atlas beetles and other jungle insects. Palawan Butterfly Garden is a conservation project that can be successfully done on nearly any site from an urban rooftop to a suburban schoolyard, from a landscaped island at a business, to an expansive golf course garden. Imagine if we all did it? Our landscapes would not only be more beautiful, but they would provide corridors of habitat to sustain native butterfly populations across the Philippine.  Read More: http://asiawonder.blogspot.com/2011/05/palawan-butterfly-garden-of-exotic.html
