DODIONGAN FALLS

The trail to Dodiongan Falls is pretty easy to negotiate; there were no steep hills to trek and no rocky boulders to climb and hop through. The only problem we faced, or at least the members of the group who were wearing trekking shoes, were the numerous river crossings we have to traverse. The water’s not really that deep; most don’t even reach our knees. The problem though is we have to take off our shoes every time we have to cross the stream that runs from the Dodiongan’s basin. Being the lazy person that I am, I forewent the arduous task of removing my shoes and putting them on again, I simply waded through, wet socks and all. Dodiongan Falls in Brgy. Bonbonon, Iligan City is one of my favorite waterfalls because it is huge and it has a cool blue lagoon, so ideal for swimming. The said falls is accessible via a trek along the river banks, approximately 20-30minutes away.  It would be awesome to spend the day listening to your favorite tracks or just read a good book. Its a good place to be one with the nature. Dodiongan Falls is handsome in it’s 65 ft water drop. Massive. Daunting. Beautiful in a strong way.

The Falls has a huge, irregularly shaped boulder for the water to flow on, and just in the middle is a protruding rock that separates the flow of the water drop into two. It has the same characteristic as the Hindang Falls of Brgy. Hindang, as both are slide falls,  gliding through a large slab of rock and in continuous contact with it. The diffence is Hindang Falls is quiet calm and serene while the Dodiongan Falls is massive and heavy on the water.

It has a large plunge pool ideal for swimming. The water is clear and cold as it makes it’s way downstream through large boulders framing the plunge pool.  Read More:   https://www.pinaytravelista.com/iligan-city-dodiongan-falls/
