LINAO CAVE

Linao Cave – There is very cold and not too much salty water inside. It is best for swimming especially in summer. The water is clear when it is high tide and if you are the first comer of the day.

During Holy week, folks in different barangay not far away from the cave, are gathered each other to go in Linao, to have some fun and to swim. Elders said that on holy week the insects or any kind of dangerous creatures are dead and that’s why it is safe to go there. Linao Cave is located in Sulangan, Guiuan, Eastern Samar. ‘Linao’ is a Waray-waray word which means ‘clear’ which describes the crystal clear fresh waters of the cave. The stone formations inside the cave are one of the best examples of Mother Nature’s work of art.

The day before I went to ABCD beach in Calicoan Island to try surfing for the first time, me and my cousins went to Linao Cave, a hidden cave in the tropical forest located just a thrilling walk away from Calicoan and Brgy. Sulangan.
