Aurora Quezon was the wife of the former Philippine President Manuel Luis Quezon, first President of the Republic of the Philippines. She had a very simple life and devoted to charities. She became the first lady of the republic of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944. She was also known and well loved figure among Filipinos simply because of her involvement in many humanitarian activities.

Aurora Quezon was born to Pedro Aragon and Zeneida Molina on February 19, 1888 in Baler, a remote coastal town in Tayabas which is now Aurora Province. When the President died, she turned down the pension awarded to her by the government, so that the money be used for war widows and orphans. Even the Communist-led Hukbalahap, who spread terror through the mountains of Central Luzon, could find no word to say against Aurora. And on the morning of April 28, 1949 , She and her daughter baby were assassinated when she left her home to open a new hospital. It was such a tragic death when a gunfire emerged on the road targeting her vehicle. Mrs. Quezon, her daughter and Bernardo, Mayor of Quezon were killed instantly. And after the assassination the province was named after her memory.

The house is still standing on an average sized corner lot. A noticeable wooden house wrapped with nipa roofs. The house looks like an old traditional Filipino style homes. At the back it has an open area connecting to a small garden. Read More: http://www.juanderfulpinoy.com/dona-aurora-quezons-baler-house/

Dona Aurora Quezon, or Aurora-Aragon Quezon, was the wife of President Manuel Luis Quezon. She was also the First Lady of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944. She was actually the first spouse of a Philippine president to be called like that, as it cannot be found whether the wife of Emilio Aguinaldo was called as such. Aurora was born in 1888 in Baler (which was then part of the bigger Quezon province), and to commemorate her existence, Aurora province was named after her.

Dona Aurora Aragon-Quezon Ancestral House in Baler, or simply the Quezon Ancestral House is another tourist spot worth checking out since it’s only a mere distance from the other historical landmarks of the town. The last time I remember I went to an old house was the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House in Cebu; however the Quezon Ancestral House was years younger than the former. By the way, donations are what Quezon Ancestral House gets to maintain the landmark. Read More:  http://www.travextravels.com/2014/12/quezon-ancestral-house-baler-aurora.html
