Anhawan / Turtle Island

I think Anhawan Island is the best destination we visited in Sipalay, Negros Occidental.  It is an untouched island and dubbed as the Turtle Island because of its shape and form. The island is about 4 or 5 km from Mina. It is a private and a virgin island owned by a humble descendant of a prominent family from the province who also allowed us to go with him. Getting there was not an easy ride because the road was not concrete. Only “habal-habal” can get faster through the rocky road as the folks said so we rented at least 3 and headed to the place. It was my first “habal-habal” ride which is a single motor with a seat extension behind to accommodate at least 4 persons including the driver and is more practically used in going up to high places.  Read More:  http://lifesunfathomabledepths.blogspot.com/2010/01/anhawan-island.html

Bacolod Public Plaza

The Bacolod Public Plaza is one of the notable landmarks of Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental, Philippines. It is located in the heart of the downtown area, near the city hall and across from the San Sebastian Cathedral. The plaza is a trapezoidal park with a belt of trees around the periphery and a gazebo at the center. Scattered within the trees are four circular fountains. The plaza was constructed in 1927 as a place for recreation, political, spiritual and cultural activities. It is quite a popular site for outdoor picnics and concerts. The gazebo is often used to house a bandstand and inscribed along the sides of the roof are the names of Western classical music composers Beethoven, Wagner, Haydn, and Mozart.  Read More:  http://smiletravelbacolodcity.blogspot.com/2013/03/bacolod-city-tourist-attractions.html

Bagacay Waterfalls

A refreshing way to beat the heat of summer during my trek to Mt. Napulak (see my Mt. Napulak article) is by taking a dip in Bagacay Falls. It’s a 30 minute trek from Barangay Bagacay, Igbaras following thru the river. It’s a small falls with a 7-8 feet catch basin at the bottom. Cooling off from the blazing sun is absolutely divine!  Read More:  http://wanderlustmaldita.blogspot.com/2015/06/bagacay-falls.html
