HAVING A FUN TIME IN LEYTE

There are many enjoyable activities to choose from when you are in Leyte.  These activities range from simple volleyball games on the beach, to a more adventurous deep sea diving and other challenging activities.  They provide endless fun for daring individuals and enjoyment even for the whole family.  Below is a list of possibilities, but there can be much more for everyone’s choice.

Swimming

Canigao is a small island located in Matalom Leyte.  Its easy to there, if you are from Tacloban just ride a van headed to Bato Leyte and ride a tricycle and tell the driver to sent you in Canigao Port. They charge you 15 pesos. And get a boat ticket which will cost you 121 pesos 2 way.  Better to bring sunblock, foods and water.. and more better if you bring tent. Their cottage is 700 pesos. But if you prepared to set on the sand its only free.  Read More:  https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g298462-d1097032-r505660364-Canigao_Island-Leyte_Island_Visayas.html#

Caving

The quaint and almost sleepy town of Hindang is better known (together with the town of Inopacan) as the jump-off point in going to the beautiful island beaches found at Quatro Islas (Cuatro Islas).

What is lesser known are the awesome caves inhabited with wild monkeys located at Mt Bontok (also spelled Buntok and Bontoc) at Brgy Buntok, Hindang.

Hindang Caves is relatively more accessible compared to other caves I have visited. There is an access road which is a mere 300 meters from the national highway to the park entrance. Before reaching the poblacion (coming from the town of Inopacan) a road sign on the left side of the highway shows you the way to the access road. This leads you up to the mountains right up to the park entrance where one begins to climb some 100-odd concrete steps up the winding stairway into the forested area where the caves are hidden by the thick foliage.

The climb up is also not as strenuous compared to others. It’s like going up, say, a 5-6-storey building. Manageable.  Read More:  http://callezaragosa.com/gerryruizphotoblog/2011/11/the-caves-monkeys-of-hindang-leyte/

Snorkeling

Snorkeling options abound in Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte with some of the quietest and least disturbed coral reefs in the Philippines. The ‘house reef’, just a handful of metres in front of our superb private beach, has excellent corals, a huge variety of fish and is frequently visited by sea turtles. There are plentiful other snorkeling sites nearby which can be accessed on foot, via a very short ride on public transport, or with the resort’s excellent 2-person kayak.  Read More:  http://www.padreburgoscastle.com/snorkeling.htm
