The Bantayog Festival, which pays tribute and honor to Filipino heroes during the Spanish era and World War II, rolled out its colorful street dance parade here last Saturday, giving spectators a show to remember.

The festival is celebrated alongside Camarines Norte’s 97th founding anniversary from April 15 to April 29.  Camarines Norte is where the first marker honoring national hero Jose Rizal was placed two years after he was shot at Bagumbayan (Luneta).  The marker also gives tribute to the heroism of a group of (katipuneros) from Daet during the Daet Revolt on April 14-16, 1898 against the Spaniards.

The Bantayog Festival is also celebrated in each town of the province with their own festivals such as the “Pinayasan” in Daet; “Palayogan” (from the root word Palay and Niyog) in Sta. Elena; “Babakasin” in Vinzonz; “Pabirik ng Bayan” in Paracale town; and the “Mananap” in San Vicente.  Read More:  http://news.mb.com.ph/2017/04/25/camnor-celebrates-bantayog-festival/
