Ugong Rock, found at Brgy. Tagabinet, North part of Puerto Princesa has taken its name from the echoing sound of the rocks produce when tapping it. Ugong Rock Adventures offer a different kind of experience. You would climb up through steep rocks, pass through narrow passages and cry your heart out at their zipline, where they boast of to be the fastest zipline in the country.  Read More: http://www.palawanitravelcorp.com/?page=ugong_rock

Ugong Rock is a 75-foot limestone formation in the midst of farmlands and karst forests or forests growing on limestone substrate in Barangay Tagabinet, a community of indigenous people from Palawan. Our tour guide informed us that the word “ugong” stands for the reverberating sound that stalactites produce inside of Ugong Rock when hit or pounded with  the knuckles or the hand.

The activity includes spelunking with tour guide and you’ll end the tour with the sharp zipline from the top of the rock downwards. Funny as it may seems, the couple whom initiated to see the tour didn’t go for it and us four grab the chance to experience this once in a lifetime activity.

The last part of the trip was the Ziplining. We decided that I will take the first one to go, then Trish and Mic and Allison would be the last. I have this tense fear of heights especially in cable cars, but for ziplining or cave jumping,  nah.. I feel that my fear is gone easily if the activity requires me to do it fast or for a fast time frame. I cave jumped in Hundred Islands before  with intense height and this would be my 3rd Zipline, so I am not really frightened with this activity. And I really enjoyed the view!  Read More:  https://thetravelkidatheart.wordpress.com/2013/01/15/ziplining-and-spelunking-adventures-in-ugong-rock-palawan/

Ugong Rock is a project by ABS-CBN Foundation and the locals to support community-based tourism where the locals can earn a living. Here, visitors can go caving (PhP 200) or go caving then zip-lining (PhP 200 + PhP 250). Since my brother never had the chance to ride the zip-line, I decided to accompany him and experience that adrenaline rush again!

After wearing our helmets and gloves, we were on our way to the caves. There’s a tour guide from the project to lead our way in the caves. It was quite an easy hike to go up the caves, except for a few paths where you had to twist a bit to be able to fit in the passages.  Read More:   http://eagerexplorer.com/destinations/philippines/palawan/puerto-princesa-ugong-rock/#
