Virgin Falls, deeply hidden within the highlands of Kapatagan Valley is a wonder of nature to behold. This one tiered waterfalls is certainly a welcome oasis in the middle of thick bushes and huge towering ferns and cogons in an agonizing trail of sharp rock formations and stiff climb. But all the strenuous effort and exhaustion is nothing compared to the fulfillment of seeing this stunning beauty of nature: tall in all its regalia is about 20 meters high and some 10 to 15 feet wide of cascading waterfalls bordered between huge rock walls on each side and crowned with a lush flora and fauna here and there. The welcoming icy mists of the waterfalls as one enters the area is as soothing as the serenity of the entire wonder with only the rapid rush of waters from high above blended with the musical chirping of wild birds hovering gently around and the swaying sound of the trees can be felt, heard, and awed at. The colours of the earth amid a perfect weather are all too inviting to ignore the lure of the waterfalls’ natural pool of icy cold, crystal clear waters at the basin. It is a heavenly landscape to behold and a moment to be one with Mother Nature. Read More: http://davaocitybybattad.blogspot.com/2012/05/virgin-falls.html

Virgin Falls is among the must see natural wonders while in the Highlands of Kapatagan.

Going there is not easy. From proper Kapatagan, we took a 20-minute exciting habal-habal ride going to the jump-off point. From the jump off point going to the foot of the Virgin Falls, another 45-minute trek was needed. But the trek going down to the waterfalls was not easy.

We passed by wooded areas with thick vegetation of different blossoming bushes and flowering trees. Huge ferns were abundant. Cogon grasses taller than I am were all over. Going further, the steep trails were becoming too agonizing. Sharp rocks were awful and some dangerous cliffs were heart stopping. I had to pause at once to gain back my stamina. I was a hardcore walk but our keenness to see the beauty of the Virgin Falls was enough to keep us going.Arriving at the basin from that strenuous trek, it was the icy mists of the Virgin Falls that immediately welcomed us. Like a magic potion, the cold mists kissed our cheeks and it instantly restored our tired muscles and drained spirits. Soon after, the coldness and calmness of the whole environs covered our beings. The exhaustion was gone and was turned to an avidity of romancing the exquisiteness of the falls.  Read More:  https://thetravelteller.com/romancing-the-virgin-falls-of-kapatagan/

The Virgin falls is located in the small village of Balatikan in the highland of Kapatagan, Digos City.  It is thread oftentimes by several mountaineers passing throughout the Kapatagan trail since it became one of the jump-off point of the tallest mountain in the Philippines, the Mount Apo. In fact, a portion of Kapatagan is still covered by the protected areas of the Mount Apo Natural Park.

Digos City is a second class city and the provincial capital of Davao Del Sur; located in between Davao City and General Santos City. Going here is not a problem, it is very accessible to any public Utility vehicles. Agriculture plays an important role in the digiseńos as the main source of their livelihood. Once you get there, try their best sweet variety (carabao) of mango which really known locally and export abroad that put the city in the namesake City of Sweet mangoes“.
