SANTIAGO / SABANGAN COVE

In the small town of Santiago, Ilocos Sur, lies a small patch of paradise-like cove called the Sabangan Cove, or more known as the Santiago Cove. It is also dubbed as the “Boracay of Ilocos Sur” because of its white sands.

The coast, spanning almost a kilometer long, boasts with white sands and calm waters that make it perfect for swimming. During the high sun, you can see the white fine sands that slowly dissolve when stepped on. During evenings, the water’s temperatures are just right for those who want to bathe. And being in a cove surrounded by reefs, strong waves are calmed down before reaching the shore.

Surrounding the beachline are rows of the cabana, painted with different colors, that were built by the local government. Commonly, it is occupied with eateries or stores selling sea products. During evenings, electric lighting illuminates the beach. There are also cottages that can be rented.  Read More:  http://www.tupanggala.com/santiago-cove/

Touring around the province of Ilocos Sur, on a cruising pace, one can visit the Santiago Cove, a beautiful stretch of fine sand beach in Santiago town with amenities for picnics and water sports.

Santiago Cove in Ilocos Sur is approximately 51 km away from San Fernando La Union. The cove has a perfect crescent-shaped shore (like a half moon). Read More: http://philippinebeach.blogspot.com/2005/11/santiago-cove-ilocos-sur-philippines.html

Located after Candon City as you head up the north, the Municipality of Santiago Ilocos Sur is the home to what I said earlier as the Boracay of Ilocos Sur. Known for its powdery white coast, calm and shallow waters laid against green mountains, Santiago Cove is a perfect spot for picnics as well as for swimming. Cottages located alongside can be rented at reasonable price. Small establishments for eating are also found nearby.

I have no more things to say about this place aside from that you will spend for the tricycle fare from getting to the cove itself from the national highway. Also, it would be travel-worthy if you’re going to:
(1) explore the place as far as you could

(2) play hide-and-seek with the shy hermit crabs

(3) ask the locals where you can see the flamboyant-colored sea urchins.
