Costa Marina Beach resort is one of the more underrated but very beautiful beach resorts on Samal Island. The resort is just right across the Davao Gulf from Davao City, just minutes from the port located in the Lanang area.

Costa Marina Beach Resort is one of the most accessible resorts on Samal Island, along with Paradise Island Beach Park and Resort, Sonrisa de V Beach Resort and BluJazz Beach Resort. But while it is accessible, the resort still offers the much-coveted privacy that its competitors fall short on. Costa Marina is almost never crowded and that’s what makes it special. Hello, everyone! When you say “summer” the first thing that comes to our mind are beaches. Right? Well, if you’re staying in Davao City and you wanted to escape and have a quick beach time, you might want to check out Costa Marina Beach Resort. Just right across the Davao Gulf and that’s minutes away from the port located in Sasa area.

Costa Marina Beach Resort is one of the most accessible and budget-friendly resorts located at Caliclic, Babak District in Samal Island. Aside from its accessibility, the resort is almost never crowded and it’s privacy makes it special.

Clean, well-maintained, white sand and budget-friendly is how I describe the place. For most Filipinos, tanning is not a thing so having trees lined up at the shoreline to provide a natural shade is a win-win. Under the trees and just steps from the water would be the best spot to hang out to play around and have a picnic.

Keep in mind that in this part of Samal Island low tide begins at around 10 AM and then the water comes back to shore at around 3 PM. Don’t be disappointed you can still take a dip but you’d have to walk farther out to sea.

I’ve visited the resort twice. My first was back in 2014 and then recently this year. I’d say a lot has changed – more rooms, enhanced designs, and they still continue to improve the resort. I wonder how it would look like on my next visit.  Read More:  https://mywanderstory.com/costa-marina-beach-resort/

Costa Marina Beach Resort is just a few minutes away from Davao City.

Located in Babak, Samal, it can be reached by a 15 minute boat ride from the Sasa Dock Area or better know to the Dabawenyos as the “Paradise Island Dock.” (It shares the area with Paradise Resorts dock, that’s why.) There’s also an option to bring your own car and board the ferry for a higher cost.

TIP:  if you’re only staying at Costa Marina and don’t intend to go resort hopping, I suggest you take the boat, it’ll actually save you time and money.  Chartered boats are available from 10am to 5pm every day.

Costa Marina charges P100/head entrance fee and is perfect for a lazy day on the beach just lounging on the shore with a glass of cocktail or reading a good book. The shoreline is dotted with tree and offers ample shade.  The resort also offers a number of aquatic activities like jet skiing, kayaking and snorkeling, and paddle boats. For land activities, there is volleyball.

You can bring your own food and drink for a minimal corkage, but they have a restaurant that serves surprisingly good food and serving is for sharing. On our recent trip there, we had grilled boneless bangus (P160), seafood bihon guisado (P160), and buttered chicken (P220) for lunch. The tasty noodle dish and chicken was a lot that it lasted us until merienda. Their bar is also relatively well stocked and a bottle of San Mig light is priced at P49.50.
