The Sinanggiyaw Festival of Dumanjug highlights the abundance of the farm products of the town along with the fertility of their land. It aims to show visitors what the town can offer to the world even as the town is gradually becoming more urban rather than rural.  Similar to other festivals in the archipelago, the Sinanggiyaw Festival also celebrates the feast day of the patron saint of the town, St. Francis of Assisi. The festival has been celebrated on October 4 of each year since 1855.

It is believed that the festival started off as a religious celebration before it gradually transformed into the grand celebration it is today. Despite this change, the festival still highlights giving thanks for the blessings the residents of the town receive each year. Being a religious celebration, the church is the center of all the events of the festival.  Read More:  http://www.peanutbrowas.com/blog/experience-the-sinanggiyaw-festival-of-dumanjug

Kabkaban Festival is an interesting event celebrated annually by Carcaranons on November 24-25. The festival is done by performing ritual dances that are supposed to drive away bad spirits in the surroundings.

The term ‘kabkaban’ derives from the abundant grass specie that grows in the area called ‘kabkab’, which is used as instrument to drive away bad luck and bad spirits through dance rituals.

The festival presents various resources and traditions of Carcar including its history, arts and locally-produced products.

Carcar is known for its inexpensive but durable shoes, bolos (wide-bladed knives), baskets and cottage industries, among other products being sold both in the Cebu Province and outside it. Carcaranons are also known for arts and craftsmanship. They produce great wooden furniture products and other interior decors. These locally-produced products are part of the festival which are being showcase during these two-day celebration and festivity. Read More: http://www.cebu-bluewaters.com/kabkaban-festival.html
