The statue of this local hero is made of bronze standing on top of bricks and concrete pedestal.  The size of the statue is over-sized, which I believe to emphasize or express his greatness and bravery.

Lapu-Lapu’s statue simply shows a figure wearing a native attire holding tight a ‘kampilan’ (a sword) on his right hand and a shield on his left. Read More: http://www.cebu-bluewaters.com/cebu-lapu-lapu.html

The Lapu Lapu shrine is a 20 meter (65.5 feet) high, bronze statue of Lapu Lapu (circa 1491-1547 AD), the Filipino warrior king who commanded the native forces that fought the invading Spanish forces in the Battle of Mactan in 1521 and killed their leader, the navigator Ferdinand Magellan.

The Lapu Lapu statue is said to be on the exact spot where the battle was fought and where Magellan was killed.

The statue shows Lapu Lapu holding a sword in one hand and a shield on the other (these two weapons are said to have been used by Lapu Lapu in his combat with Magellan).  Read More:  http://www.fabulousphilippines.com/mactan-shrine.html

The Lapu-Lapu shrine is a 20-meter bronze statue found in an enclosed park at Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City. This statue was erected in honor of Datu Lapu-Lapu, a native leader who defeated Spanish soldiers and killed the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. This landmark is being preserved for historical conservation because it is in this very spot that the first Philippine battle happened on April 27, 1521.

This place is located along the shores of Punta Engaño, covering the whole area where the historical battle took place. A 100 years old monument of Lapu-Lapu can be found in this place. A brief history of the place is also engraved on one of its monuments.  Read More:  https://www.cebucitytour.com/cebu-lapu-lapu-shrine-review/
