Pasungay Festival

What is ‘Pasungay” festival all about? Pasungay festival is a celebration in honor to Sto. Niño. It is a festival of bullfight or a bull derby and this was held on the Municipality of San Joaquin, Iloilo in every third Saturday of January. And this one of the tourist attraction prepared by every San Joaquinhon for a long week celebration of their Municipal Fiesta. This festival is a fight between two bulls until one tire out or gives up and run. The bulls are pit against each other by weight category for this annual Bull fight. On the arena you will witness the ferocious display of power and skills of the bulls.

Every entry on this festival was groomed and handpicked months before the festivals. And their skills and abilities are test during the elimination round made by a neighboring group of experts or won several times in Barangay fiesta. And they are trained by an expert to develop their endurance, power and strength in order secure their victory. Hinugyaw Festival

Hirinugyaw, a street dancing festivity participated by various agencies and non-governmental organizations in the Municipality of Cabatuan in Iloilo. Lanot Festival

LANOT Festival aims to bring public awareness on its multi-level relevance to all aspects of human endeavor to generate a continuous livelihood development in conjunction with the implementation and sustenance of Abaca resource management program for an economically stable Janiuaynons.

Lanot, also known as Abaca fiber is a by-product extracted from abaca. It is durable, saltwater-resistant and versatile wherein the use of this fiber dates back to Hispanic times when it was made as docking ropes to Spanish galleons.
