Biliran is an island province in the Philippines located in the Eastern Visayas region (Region VIII). Biliran is one of the country’s smallest and newest provinces.

The province is composed of two major volcanic islands: the main island also named Biliran and Maripipi, a smaller island to the northwest. Other smaller islands include Higatangan and Dalutan.

Biliran has a combination of warm and cool climatic zones, thus the prevailing climate is ideal for the cultivation of a wide range of agricultural crops. There is no distinct dry season but the heavy wet season generally occurs in December.  Read More:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biliran

Biliran used to be a sub-province of Leyte until it became a full-fledged province in 1992. It basks in natural splendor with rich, untapped natural resources. It is only a two and a half hour drive from Tacloban over a scenic and winding terrain with views of towering mountains.

This young province has so much to offer to nature lovers. Among them, white sand beaches at quiet and serene islands like the Higatangan Island with its shifting sand bar and natural rock formations and Dalutan Island, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. It also has natural springs, unexplored caves, and many waterfalls that some have not been fully explored yet.  Read More:  https://gerryruiz.wordpress.com/2007/11/28/biliran/
