INTERESTING PLACES IN CAMIGUIN

The nice climate and the steep hills, the widespread evergreen forest cover that is home to a wide range of different bird species, the amazing scenery and views, and the nice cool sea breeze blowing from the ocean, will absolutely make you feel relaxed when visiting Camiguin Island in the Philippines.

You can board a ferry to reach this amazing island or use a simple pump boat that is more common to access the other small islands within, such as the white island, where you can go for sunbathing or surfing in the mild waves. You can join the locals in game fishing and catch some fresh tuna and barracuda. The locals are friendly and hospitable and they can guide you around. To go around the island, you can use motorbikes or rent a minivan with a driver to access various nice spots.

Some of the favorite tourist attractions in Camiguin Island include both cold and hot springs, the Katibawasan waterfalls with a large amount of water plunging into the stream that flows around the island. You may also find various crops such as fruits and coconuts along the way to replenish your thirst.    Read More :  http://www.islandsofthephilippines.com/2014/11/this-is-camiguin-island-in-the-philippines/

Sto. Rosario Church

The first time I’ve heard about a “Green Church” in the province of Camiguin, I have said that this church is only one of its kind here in our country. This famous church is also known as Sto. Rosario Church located in the rustic town of Sagay.

Unlike the other Spanish colonial churches in the Philippines, Sto. Rosario Church is very simple. Its façade is not conspicuous; rather, it has a weathered beauty that is common to most century-old churches. The altar wall has multi-colored adobe stones, not the antique wooden retablos usually found in old churches.

Though Santo Rosario Church lacks the magnificence of a cathedral, stepping inside the church will give you a glimpse of the church’s past and the role it played in history. The church was built in 1882 using coral stones and undergoes some renovations to strengthen the new structure. The present structure was made of steel bars and modern building techniques.

Sto. Rosario Church is sometimes referred to as Green Church. It is because of the materials used that show the creativity and environment-friendly of the church designers. Driftwood chandeliers, the sawali (woven bamboo skin) walls, the ornamental plants at the entrance, bamboo columns, and other local materials are the first things that will welcome you upon entering the church.  Read More:  http://greedypeg.org/camiguin/Santo-Rosario-Church.html

Tanguines Lagoon is man-made lagoon near Benoni Port, Town of Mahinog, used as a fishpond but eventually on a part of this lagoon was converted into a floating restaurant, travel lodge and now offers ziplines. Aside from this choices, it offers nature fresh air, with serene rocky cliffs and purely tranquility.  Read More:  http://xplorerboyz.blogspot.com/2012/10/camiguin-glimpse-of-tanguines-lagoon.html#.WIeqQvkrJaQ

Tangub Hot Springs

The Tangub Hot Spring is one of the best-kept secrets in Camiguin. Everybody has heard of it but only a little know the exact place. We asked the fishermen to bring us there and they brought us to the Sunken Cemetery. Why? Because the Tangub Hot Spring is in the Sea at normal water level. The warm water comes out between the rocks only at low tide.  Tangub Hot Spring is also a diver’s paradise.  Read More:  https://www.silent-gardens.com/blog/tangub-hot-spring-on-camiguin-island/
