Every August of the year, the most celebrated event of Cagayan de Oro, the culture-rich and colorful Kagay-an Festival happens. It is held every 28th day of August, which is the feast day of St. Augustine– patron saint of the City of Cagayan de oro. One of the much awaited highlights of the 6th Kuyamis Festival took place this morning. The Kuyamis Festival 2019 Street Dancing and Tableau Competition held at Pelaez Sports Center, Cagayan de Oro.

Hudyaka Festival

Hudayaka is celebrated every July 12th in the town of Laguindingan.

This annual fiesta event’s main attraction is the street dancing competition that dramatizes the historical events of how Laguindingan became part of Misamis Oriental. The powerful and colorful costumes coupled with the unique choreography are a must see. Cagayan de Oro’s annual fiesta celebration, popularly known as Higalaay Festival, is a week-long festivity filled with a series of colorful, culturally-rich and fun-filled core events that culminate on the 28th of August, the feast day of the city’s patron saint, St. Augustine.

The celebration has grown not only as the customary day of thanksgiving but also as a rallying point for a campaign to promote Cagayan de Oro City and the surrounding areas globally as an investment and tourism destination.
