Lussok Crystal Cave in Apayao Part 1

LUSSOK CRYSTAL CAVE

Lussok Crystal Cave is nested at the northernmost part of the Cordillera in the town of Luna, the capital of Apayao and dubbed as the Show window of the province. Home to a diverse ecosystem and variety of natural attractions which is probably known to many, Luna projects as picture of verdant plains, mountains and hills; clean waterfalls, rivers and creeks; unexplored caves; and other gifts of nature. Its most popular attraction is the Lussok Crystal Cave and Underground River, a picture of natural wonder that is fast becoming a hotspot!  Read More:  http://www.lunaapayao.gov.ph/index.php/2012-03-25-06-12-32/2012-03-26-21-35-49/handicrafts/45-about-luna/publications/97-lussok

This cave and underground river system is in the town of Luna, the first town one will hit when traveling to Apayao from Cagayan Valley, the easiest access to this province. Thus, Luna town has become the de facto provincial capital. In fact, the government center has moved from the official capital town of Kabugao to Luna.

On the rocky slope of Barangay Dagupan one will find this  this multi-chamber cave  with beautiful centuries-old stalactites and stalagmites, with crystals embedded. Thus Lussok is also called Lussok Crystal Caves.  The visit is via a boat without outriggers, on calm and placid waters from the opening of the river unto the end.    Read More:  https://boyplakwatsa.com/2017/11/23/lussok-cave-and-underground-river-luna-apayao/

From its somber beginnings as a refuge for Japanese soldiers and native insurgents, Lussok Cave has metamorphosed into one of Luna’s most well-loved attractions. The tour starts with a brief 200-meter boat ride on the enchanting azure waters. Upon entering the cave, glimmering limestone formations loom over the pitch black river. Faint streaks of sunlight seep from a hole, or lussok in their vernacular, caused by war bombings further down the route. Thrill-seeking visitors can opt to end the tour by spelunking their way out of the cave. Read More:  https://explora.ph/attraction/1055/lussok-cave-and-underground-river
