Banigan Festival

In the northernmost part of Antique province is Libertad, 146 kilometres (91 mi) away from the capital of San Jose de Buenavista. It is a town on both mountain and seaside, surrounded by the bariw plant  which is a versatile material in mat weaving.

The town of Libertad has pioneered in banig weaving which has become one of the main sources of livelihood of the townsfolk. Batabat Festival

It has Batabat Festival celebrated on March 16-19 yearly. It is an annual festivity celebrated in the Municipality of Barbaza in accordance to its legend Abat-abat, which the name itself came from. Binirayan Festival

Literally meaning, “where they landed”, the Binirayan Festival remembers the arrival of ten Bornean datu (rulers of indigenous people) on the island of Panay. It is a month-long festival held in Antique Province on the island and includes street dancing, parades, culturals shows, and arts & crafts exhibitions, among other events. Bugas sa Lusong Festival

The town’s name is a construction of “Bugas sa lusong,” which describes the traditional method of separating the rice grain from its hull. “Lusong” is a common farm equipment chiselled out of a sturdy piece of wood. Sibalom has the magnificent Buruyloganay Festival it is celebrated every December 17-19. Buruyloganay is the festival of the municipality of Sibalom in the province of Antique. Madia-as/ Madja-as Festival

Tribu Pahinis de Laua-an came from the town of Laua-an in Antique Province. Patuyaw Festtival – The patuyaw, a fresh water shrimp which thrives abundantly in the streams, river, brooks and creeks in the Municipality  and is a good source of nutrition and living of the people, symbolizes the abundance of the nature which sustains life for the Sebastehanon and the precarious relationship between the people and the environment.

In gratefulness for the bounty of tatus on their land, the locals celebrate the Tatusan Festival every March. Parades of colorful asnd crab-shaped floats, street-dancing and booth-display of various sizes of tatus are among the highlights of the festival. Every April 23rd-25th, Antique celebrates Tugbong Festival. It’s the time of the year where family and relatives get together. Udyakan Festival

Udyakan Festival is celebrated in Patnongon, Antique during the last Monday of the month of February. The people are gathering together to witness the promising events like the Mardi Gras competition, the Street Dance Competition, Fire Dance Competition, Parada kang  Karusa Competition, etc. This event also includes the showcasing of the handicrafts or delicacies in every barangay in our town.

Base on the theme: “Manggad kag Bugal kang mga taga Patnongon’’, every Barangay has their own float expressing their livelihood. I am so flattered to see my fellow Patnonganon’s who’s been there helping to build these amazing floats.
