Palawod Festival

Palawod Festival is an annual celebration of the municipality of Bantayan. The festivity depicts the daily life of fishermen in the island.

“Palawod” is a Cebuano term which means “to go out to sea” for the purpose to fish.

Bantayan Island is a fishing island group found in the Visayan Sea. The island is divided into 3 municipalities, namely: Madridejos at the north, Santa Fe at the east and Bantayan in the center.

The world-renowned Holy Week observance in Bantayan has attracted hordes of both local and foreign tourists. Kinsan Festival is an artistic reminder of how Aloguinsan got its name, from “ulo sa kinsan.” Kinsan is a kind of fish abundant in the southwester town.Kinsan is the name of the town’s favorite fish that abounds in the town’s coastal area every June. It is relatively big fish, with a foot-long kinsan, weighing about three kilos considered small. The Kinsan Festival is named after a type of fish. Kinsan is a fish of great abundance in Aloguinsan. It is a town favorite, not only because it is unique to the place, but because of its taste. Kinsan is the town’s favorite fish that abounds in the town’s coastal area every June. It is relatively big fish, with a foot-long kinsan, weighing about three kilos considered small.
