A visit to Isla Gigantes isn’t complete without dropping by the famous Pawikan Cave. Named for the huge turtle-shaped stones at the heart of the cave, various rock formations form the center of attraction for tourists. Exploring the inside of the cave will bring visitors to numerous cave chambers lit up by openings hundreds of feet high up.

Adding to the allure of Pawikan Cave are the local folk stories of hidden treasure. It is said that the rock formations shaped like giant turtle eggs were used by the Japanese Imperial Army as markers for the location of hidden gold bars.

Getting to the cave requires a steep hike, but the otherworldly feel of entering the cave is its own reward. Read More: http://www.rappler.com/life-and-style/travel/shareph/iloilo/75395-shareiloilo-pawikan-cave-isla-gigantes

If you want to go to a amazing place then here in Islas de Gigantes in Carles, Iloilo you will find Pawikan Cave. I went there once with my family and I tell you its a must see attraction and a spectacular place. Upon entering in this cave, we were greeted with a huge entrance chamber and the sight of amazing rock formations. Within the cave there are more several cave chambers that are being lighted with the little openings on the cave ceiling.

The locals said that the cave was named “Pawikan” because of the large egg-shaped rock formations (that resembles giant turtle eggs) that is placed at one of the deep chambers of the cave. They also said that the “pawikan eggs” were devised by the Japanese Imperial Army as a marker to  indicate the location where they buried gold bars which were believed as part of the Yamashita Treasure. Now, the “Pawikan eggs” are gone with extensive dug up holes at the site. But the place was still wonderful despite of that.  Read More:  http://adventuretimeiniloilo.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Pawikan Cave is a must-see attraction whenever visiting Isla de Gigantes Sur in Carles, Iloilo. Upon entering the mouth of the cave, visitors are greeted with a huge entrance chamber and the sight of spectacular rock formations. There are numerous cave chambers further inside the cave that are aptly lit by atriums (or openings) at the cave ceiling. The unique subterranean views evoke an other-worldly feeling. A talk with the local guides would reveal how their elders would often tell them not to go inside as not to disturb the “spirits” living in Pawikan Cave.  Read More: http://www.exploreiloilo.com/do/info/pawikan-cave/
