INTERESTING PLACES IN CAMIGUIN

The nice climate and the steep hills, the widespread evergreen forest cover that is home to a wide range of different bird species, the amazing scenery and views, and the nice cool sea breeze blowing from the ocean, will absolutely make you feel relaxed when visiting Camiguin Island in the Philippines.

You can board a ferry to reach this amazing island or use a simple pump boat that is more common to access the other small islands within, such as the white island, where you can go for sunbathing or surfing in the mild waves. You can join the locals in game fishing and catch some fresh tuna and barracuda. The locals are friendly and hospitable and they can guide you around. To go around the island, you can use motorbikes or rent a minivan with a driver to access various nice spots.

Some of the favorite tourist attractions in Camiguin Island include both cold and hot springs, the Katibawasan waterfalls with a large amount of water plunging into the stream that flows around the island. You may also find various crops such as fruits and coconuts along the way to replenish your thirst.    Read More :  http://www.islandsofthephilippines.com/2014/11/this-is-camiguin-island-in-the-philippines/

Mt. Hibok-Hibok

Mt. Hibok-Hibok is a popular hiking destination in Camiguin island. A permit from the DENR office in Mambajao is required. It normally takes 3–5 hours to reach the summit; the usual jump-off is Ardent Hot Springs in Mambajao. Views from the summit include the nearby White Island, Bohol to the north, Eastern Mindanao to the east and the island of Siquijor to the west. The mossy crater of Camiguin’s past eruption can also be seen.

Climbing Hibok-Hibok is quite challenging for a day trip. It takes 3-4 hours to reach the peak depending on your pace. The altitude gain is quite rapid and sun cover is minimal.Yet the views are unique and spectacular. At the peak, on a clear day, you can see the mossy crater of the volcano. To your north is Bohol, and you can even see Surigao at the east, and Siquijor on the opposite side. Flanking the island of Camiguin is White island, which truly looks white from atop the mountain. Even more unique to Hibok-Hibok is the blade-sharp rocks at the peak area. The pitcher plants that grow on these rocks make the landscape a little bit eerie. All these elements make Hibok-Hibok a must-stop for hikers who are visiting Camiguin.  Read More: http://www.mindanaotours.com/mt-hibok-hibok-camiguin/

Based in history, the stories of Old Volcano and Sunken Cemetery are closely tied together. Where in strong earthquake happened in 1871 that the cemetery submerged in water and the ancient Spanish church is destroyed. Both lay between the sea and the Old Volcano. This is one of the best springs I recommend when you are traveling to this Island called Camiguin-“The Island of Seven Volcanoes”.

Aside from Macao Cold Spring and Ardent Hot Spring, lies this crystal clear and fresh water spring called “Santo Niño Cold Spring” that will surely rejuvenate your mind and body.

Santo Niño Cold Spring is located in Catarman, Camiguin Island, Philippines.  Read More:  http://www.bestspotsph.com/2010/05/santo-nino-cold-spring-camiguin.html
