Palace in the Sky, the unfinished mansion of former President Ferdinand Marcos, has been converted and renamed the People’s Park in the Sky . Without a doubt this offers the most spectacular view of Taal volcano, no if, and or buts about it!

The Palace in the Sky was built for the official state visit of the former US President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan, though the Reagan’s cancelled their trip due to the general unrest and Marcos’ problems at the time. Looking at the shell of the palace today, it’s hard to imagine the opulence and splendor it enjoyed during its heyday. Hollywood stars like George Hamilton, entertained the Marcos’ and their cronies with such ostentatious and fragrant displays of wasting money, it became one of the final nails in the Marcos’ political coffin. They must have had some wild and outrageous parties there!

In any event, it’s definitely worth the time to visit as the view is amongst the best I’ve seen; Lake Taal and Taal volcano to the south, Laguna de Bay to the east, and almost as far as Manila to the north. tagaytay.com

Palace in the Sky is situated in one of the highest places in Tagaytay. From the Palace in the sky, you can see the majestic view of the Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. Palace in the Sky was supposedly a presidential guest house during the time of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. But now it is open for the public. The place is now like a park and a viewpoint where visitors can see the Taal Lake and Laguna de Bay. The place has also a well-maintained Japanese garden. Visitors are likely to go here because of the historical value of the place and to enjoy the cool temperature, it is also common to see people taking a stroll or trekking in Palace in the Sky since the road is a little steep going up. Palace in the Sky is definitely among the popular places that visitors of Tagaytay City check out. – tagaytay-city.blogspot.com
